All 18+ non-binary, gender non-conforming, and/or female identifying skaters are welcome!
No skating experience is necessary! Every one of us didn't know how to skate at one point. AND THAT IS OKAY! These things take time and we will teach you how to skate and more importantly how to skate safely before you play your first game.
What do I need to get started?
First things first! Fill out the form below so we can reach out to you with more details!
Now that you got that out of the way, lets get you geared up! Roller derby is a full-contact sport so we need the right gear to keep you safe. Skaters are required to have the following before hitting the track:
Protective Gear knee, elbow, and wrist pads
We recommend Triple8 and 187 killer pads. They are common and durable beginner pads.
Roller Derby Quad Skates
We recommend a low-cut boot for ankle mobility and a low/flat heel for agility.
Some beginner brand examples would be either Pacer or Riedell Dart/R3.
Mouthguard
A common brand we use is Sisu, it has a moldable fit and gives you the ability to speak easily. Communication on the track is a must!
Helmet
Common helmet brands we use are S1 or Triple8.
The Brawlers also wear a WHITE helmet.
No Gear? No Problem!
We have loaner gear available for you to use/try on until you can get your own that you like! They are on a first come first serve basis.
We understand that gear can get expensive so we have some recommendations for those who are just starting out!
Facebook groups like Roller Derby Recyclables or Facebook Marketplace are good places to start. Poshmark and Ebay are also other places that are good to check.
It's always good to start with a used pair of skates before you commit to a brand new pair!
How old do I have to be?
Is there an age limit?
We require interested skaters to be at least 18 years old! Otherwise all ages
above 18 are welcome!
Do you only allow women?
We welcome all non-binary, gender non-conforming, and/or female identifying skaters!
What if I don't know how to skate?
We will teach you! Everyone has different starting points and we work with all different skater skill levels to get make sure you are ready to hit the track!
What if I don't have skates?
We have loaner gear for you to try on/use until you can get gear of your own!
Except for mouthguards, you'll have to purchase one of those for yourself
